Ask the Fight Doc: Can vegan/vegeterian diets hinder fighters such as Jon Fitch?
Ahead of his eventual majority draw with B.J. Penn at UFC 127, much of the pre-event discussion focused on Jon Fitch and his new vegan diet.While once a massive welterweight who'd hit close to 200 pounds between fights, Fitch recently switch to an all-vegan diet that reportedly caused him to slim down prior to UFC 127.
Fitch finished strong against Penn, and his late-fight surge prevented a loss. But in our latest "Ask the Fight Doc" installment, MMAjunkie.com medical columnist Dr. Johnny Benjamin discusses whether Fitch's performance could have been affected by the dietary changes.

Zelaznik says UFC "very likely" to make Swedish debut in November
The Ultimate Fighting Championship continues to blaze new ground, and Sweden is apparently on the current "to do" list.While UFC president Dana White in February confirmed to MMAjunkie.com that the organization was targeting Sweden for a 2011 event, UFC exec Marshall Zelaznik has a more defined target in mind.
Specifically, November.

Three days after their fight in the Octagon came to an end, the war of words between Michael Bisping and Jorge Rivera, and the respective trainers and managers of both fighters, is still not over.
Bisping and his team at the Wolfslair MMA Academy released a blistering statement about Rivera on Tuesday, ripping Rivera and his "notorious corner man, Matt Phinney" for their conduct before, during and after their fights at UFC 127.
"Let me begin first by saying that in five years of competing in the UFC at every level, we have never encountered a more unprofessional outfit as Jorge Rivera's camp," Anthony McGann of Wolfslair MMA Academy in the statement.

Liz Carmouche to Challenge Marloes Coenen; Miesha Tate Injured

Just 10 days before she's set to defend her Strikeforce title belt for the first time, Marloes Coenen has been given a new opponent.
Liz Carmouche will fight Coenen for the Strikeforce women's 135-pound title, replacing Miesha Tate, who suffered a knee injury in training.
Carmouche is 5-0 and is coming off an impressive third-round TKO win over Jan Finney on a November Strikeforce Challengers card. She's also got a good personal story that Strikeforce can sell, as a former Marine and Iraq War veteran. But Carmouche isn't quite on Tate's level, and she'll have to be considered a major underdog against Coenen.
